Summer Bridge Program: A Gateway to Future Careers

School Announcements
Summer Bridge Program

We are thrilled to share the highlights of our recent Summer Bridge Program. This initiative, running from June 3 to July 12, 2024, in Glendale, AZ, has been a phenomenal experience for our students. Designed to provide exposure to Career and Technical Education (CTE), this program offers a blend of virtual and in-person learning opportunities, ensuring a comprehensive and engaging experience.

The Summer Bridge Program was structured to accommodate different learning preferences and schedules. From Monday to Thursday, classes were conducted virtually, allowing students the flexibility to learn from the comfort of their homes. Fridays were reserved for in-person sessions, giving those who could attend the chance to engage in hands-on activities and face-to-face interactions. This hybrid model was key to providing a balanced and enriching educational experience.

Our program was led by certified CTE teachers, each bringing their expertise and passion for career education. Every week, students delved into different career clusters, gaining insights and

skills pertinent to various industries. This approach not only broadened their horizons but also helped them identify potential career paths that align with their interests and strengths.

The success of the Summer Bridge Program was amplified through our partnerships with JA Inspire, Girls Who Code, and our own Career and Explorations course. These collaborations brought a wealth of resources and experiences to our students, including:

· Information Sessions: Both virtual and in-person, these sessions provided detailed insights into various CTE programs offered at AZVA and Insight Academy of Arizona (ISAZ).

· Experiential Learning: Students engaged in hands-on activities aligned with the CTE programs, allowing them to experience firsthand the types of knowledge and skills they would acquire in a full CTE pathway.

· Guest Speakers: Industry professionals and representatives from our partner organizations shared their experiences and insights, inspiring our students and providing real-world context to their learning.

· Virtual Field Trips: These trips offered a unique opportunity to explore our partner organizations virtually, giving students a glimpse into the working world and the application of foundational skills acquired in the CTE program.

Participation in the Summer Bridge Program offered numerous benefits, particularly for students in grades 6 through 9. Incoming high school students earned half credit, while middle school students earned elective credit for the 2024-2025 school year. More importantly, this program laid a strong foundation for those considering a CTE pathway at AZVA or ISAZ, equipping them with valuable skills and knowledge.

As we reflect on the success of this year’s Summer Bridge Program, we are excited about the future. The enthusiasm and engagement from our students reaffirm our commitment to providing meaningful and empowering educational experiences. We look forward to expanding this program and continuing to inspire the next generation of leaders and innovators.

At Arizona Virtual Academy, we believe in tailoring education to meet each child’s needs. The Summer Bridge Program is a testament to our dedication to inspiring and empowering students, paving the way for their future success.

Stay tuned for more updates and opportunities and thank you for being a part of our AZVA community!
