Shooting for the Stars: Victoria is an Out-of-this-World AZVA Graduate
For the past six years, Victoria has made Arizona Virtual Academy (AZVA) her home. Through middle school and into high school, Victoria made countless memories and took every opportunity she could. She is now getting ready to walk across the graduation stage as co-valedictorian and start her next chapter in life.
Victoria is an incredible role model for younger students on the possibilities offered at AZVA and how to not only get through high school but get the most out of the experience. She knew she wanted to be involved in school to grow her personal and professional resume, make friendships and meet interesting people.
She first joined the SkillsUSA club to supplement the materials she was learning in her career and technical education (CTE) classes. She has competed for many years in the engineering and prepared speech categories, became president of the club and earned several medals through competition.
Outside of her CTE pathway, Victoria is actively involved in National Honor Society (NHS). Out of all her activities, this is the one she loves the most because it gives her the chance to give back to her community and support other students. Through NHS, she recently hosted a webinar about how fellow graduates can apply to college and what they need to be successful during college applications. She realized many of her peers did not have the familial support needed to apply for college, so she took action to help other students.

In between her classwork, SkillsUSA and NHS commitments, Victoria has her most important role – running AZVA’s student government as student body president. Not only has she served as student body president for two years, but Victoria was also the one who championed AZVA to start a student government in the first place.
In her role as student body president, Victoria ensures her peers are having a good experience in school, plans graduation and is deeply involved in the Prom committee.
Victoria maximized her high school experience, and we at AZVA have no doubt that the next stage is going to be just as rewarding. She is attending Arizona State University next fall with bold goals for her future.
She plans to join the ROTC and serve in the army after her undergraduate studies. She hopes to earn her master’s degree in aerospace engineering. With military experience and a master’s in aerospace, Victoria believes these are key components to helping her land her dream job – becoming a NASA astronaut.
She has been fascinated by space since she was as young as 5 years old. The vastness of space and possibilities for exploration is what fascinates Victoria; she has a passion for discovering the mysteries that still exist in our solar system.
Her main goal would be to be one of the first people to land on Mars and create colonies on both Mars and the moon.
Even though she is sad her experience with AZVA is coming to a close, Victoria feels prepared by her teachers, her friends and the support she’s received the past six years. Victoria is a model graduate, leading her school, growing herself and leaving AZVA a better place than she found it.
With all the tools she has from her time with AZVA, graduation isn’t an ending for Victoria, it’s a launchpad into her future.
